The venue was in Porec
(pronounced “porridge”!) which is a wonderful town
situated on a peninsula with a very interesting history stretching
back to Roman times and beyond. Accommodation and meals were
first class and the local people were very friendly. In the
“Old Towns” a lot of the Roman buildings and streets
can be seen and are still in use today, some 2000 years later.
In fact some of the streets are still called by their Latin
Roman names. The weather was sunny with temperatures in the
mid twenties and a very relaxing and low humidity level.
Masters
Prewitt, Millar, and Mr Sunetov conducted an excellent Umpire’s
Course over the weekend which was attended by about sixty to
seventy umpires who are going to the AETF Championships in October
in Tallinn, Estonia. The RITA was represented by Master Kavanagh
who also attended the AETF Board Meeting and peripheral discussions.
The AETF
under the presidency of Master Nobilo is driving to have much
more inter-action between the European Countries through organising
more championships, seminars, etc, starting with “The
ITF European Cup”.
The AETF
is set to become much more transparent and accountable for its
actions with each member of the Executive Board having much
more responsibilities than heretofore. Above all it will be
run as a democratic organisation more in keeping with the standards
of today’s world.
Provision
has been made in a new draft Constitution to be put to the European
Congress in Estonia to change the name of the AETF because of
some legal dangers discovered by Master Nobilo. However, the
AETF Executive Board is determined to fight to keep the name
of the “All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation” which
was founded in 1979 under the direction of our Legendary Founder
General Choi Hong Hi by Senior ITF Vice-President and First
Grand Master, Rhee Ki Ha, 9th Degree.
To
join the battle to preserve the name “All Europe Taekwon-Do
Federation, each European Country NGB is requested to immediately
register the name “All Europe Taekwon-Do Federation”
in its respective country and if possible, take out world wide
registration as well.
